If you've been following along on Instagram with the recent wild adventures of our intrepid shopdog and head-balancer in chief, Ruby, you'll know that—after a surprising cancer diagnosis a few long-feeling moons ago—she successfully had one of her hind legs removed. Since recuperating from her surgery we are thrilled to report Ruby is bounding up the snowy road to a full recovery!
While adorable dogs, the magical smell of beeswax candles, and oodles of gorgeous glassware are pretty darn nice, the thing that REALLY makes The Foundry feel like home is our family. Ours is a chosen family and, honestly, we've never valued the beautiful, steadfast presence of our small-and-mighty Foundry Team (and community!) more than in this wild moment in our collective histories.
One of our grandmothers always told us: you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. Then the other one took us aside and said: "Actually, if you want to catch flies, the best way is to put a little dish soap in a jar with some vinegar, poke some holes in some plastic wrap, put it over the top of the jar with a rubber band, and set it out on the counter... clears fruit flies right up!"
We spend most of our time looking to celebrate the beauty in the mundane, finding deep meaning in the small gestures and subtle rhythms of this precious world and life, and generally trying to keep on the sunny side.
Let's talk about ornaments. The ritual unboxing of all of our heart-full favorites is one of the best parts of the season.
