Once you have an exquisite wooden cutting board you'll never go back. Made from a single piece of glorious, burly, diamond hard hardwood this board is pretty much the gold standard for chopping, prepping, or serving. Weighty and substantial (but not too heavy to heft) the wood feels excellent under the knife. The 14" x 11" size is big enough for butchering small birds or bringing a selection of cheeses to the table (or straight on over to our house, please and thank you). We (obviously) love to hang ours on a hook through its hole.
About the maker: Our very own woodworking woodsmaiden has been nurturing her passion for gorgeous wood grains since she was six years old. Every Mara Metz piece starts with a painstaking selection process to be sure that the shape, grain, and nature of the raw wood is exactly suited to the size, shape, and function of the finished piece. Thoughtfully hand-crafted right here in her Minneapolis studio from locally-sourced hardwoods (reclaimed when possible), the resulting exquisite, richly tactile woodenware is lovingly finished with Mara's own food-safe oil and beeswax blend. A simple treatment to let the natural beauty of the wood shine for generations to come.
Take Care: These are built to last. Avoid submerging in water and occasionally recondition the wood with your preferred food-safe wood conditioner (we swear by Old Mill's All Natural Beeswax and Mineral Oil Wood Polish, available right here at The Foundry), being sure to allow enough time for the wood to absorb the oil before its next use.
