3/31/2023 Foundry Giving Friday: Hats & Mittens

Every Friday The Foundry Home Goods contributes 5% of our total sales to a different community-nominated small-and-mighty cause. This Friday's Foundry Giving Friday recipient? Hats & Mittens.

The mission of Minneapolis-centered non-profit Hats & Mittens is pretty simple: provide free hats and mittens to children in need when it's cold outside.

The local, all volunteer based non-profit, collects and distributes new and gently used hats, mittens, and scarves to over 150 Twin Cities seven-county metro area schools, shelters, social service, and other youth organizations with the goal of keeping children and families warm during the cold Minnesota winters. Last year they answered requests of over 25,000 sets of hats and mittens over the winter season. THAT IS SO MANY COLD HANDS AND HEADS BEING WARMED AND LOVED!

If you don't need anything from us, please consider directly supporting Hats & Mittens here.

Additionally, if as you're getting ready for spring and it's time to clear up your entryway and you find that you have any extra or outgrown gloves, scarves, neck warmers—and yes—hats & mittens, you can drop them off at 11 locations across the greater Minneapolis area.

They also accept donations of extra wool and acrylic yarns and have a team of volunteer knitters on hand to craft hats & mittens from scratch!

If you DO find yourself in need of anything from us, know that your purchase goes to support good change happening on the community level.

Thanks to Rebecca for the nomination!

If YOU have a worthy cause to nominate for our Foundry Giving Friday initiative, pop on over to our Nomination Page and drop us a line. We're all in this together.
