As back-to-school lists are fluttering across grownup desks, back-to-school feelings are fluttering through brave little chests. While this time of year always brings a flood of nostalgia to our own library-scented memories, it also brings an awareness of how different it must be to be a young person going off to school these days. There has always been poverty, trauma, hunger, anxiety, or some version of a desire to fit in...but we never had to fear for our literal lives walking through our school door. What heavy loads for such small shoulders. The kids are all right, but they deserve a little support. Washburn Center for Children is a Minnesota-based non-profit whose mission is to nurture every child and family's well-being and full potential through transformative children's mental health care. In their words:

One out of five Minnesota children will experience mental health challenges, yet only 20% get the help they need. Washburn ensures caregivers have a resource to help kids who are hurting on the inside.

Washburn Center believes a child’s mental health is as important as their physical health. Our compassionate child therapists help children develop the skills to be successful at home, in school, and in the community.
