Every Friday The Foundry Home Goods donates 5% of our total sales to a different community-nominated small-and-mighty cause. This Friday's Foundry Giving Friday recipient? MAD DADS!
MAD DADS Minneapolis is the Minnesota chapter of a nationwide civic group dedicated to community-led activism. "MAD DADS" is an acronym: Men Against Destruction Defending Against Drugs And Social disorder. The original chapter of MAD DADS was founded by a group of African-American Dads in Omaha in the late 80's to organize locally focused and community-empowered responses against rising gang violence and drug presences their neighborhood. Our local chapter of MAD DADS has been supporting families since 1998—with a specific focus on Men and Dads. From mentoring to counseling, from community service experiences to youth camps, education resources to job training and career opportunities, from after-school programming to MAD DADS outreach teams who are on the streets every night, MAD DADS empowers families and children on the local level with tools to be vocal, visible, and vigilant advocates for positive change within their own communities.
