Every Friday The Foundry Home Goods donates 5% of our total sales to a different community-nominated small-and-mighty cause. This Friday's Foundry Giving Friday recipient? Pollinator Stewardship Council!
Hot on the heels of a fresh beeswax delivery from our dear friend Beekeeper Kate, this week's Giving Friday Recipient is the Pollinator Stewardship Council.
There are many contributing factors to the decline of honeybees and we've talked a lot about the perils facing bees (and how much we love them). Scientists cite cell phones, increased presence of new and dastardly parasites, climate change, and loss of forage as colony stressors. While these macro issues are many-tentacled, one of the biggest single threats—and the simplest to directly attribute AND to stop—is pesticides. Using the power of the law to call for proper pesticide labeling, training, regulation, and enforcement, the Pollinator Stewardship Council takes the fight to protect our precious pollinator friends to the national level.
While monolithic pesticide companies have giant budgets, hordes of lobbyists, and literally zero mechanisms for oversight when it comes to taking responsibility for hive killouts caused by errant pesticides, bees have... The Pollinator Stewardship Council.
If you don't need anything from us, please consider donating directly to support the The Pollinator Stewardship Council here
If you do find yourself in need of beeswax (of course) or PESTICIDE FREE bug repellent, know that your purchase goes to support good change happening on the community level.
Thanks to Beekeeper Kate for the nomination, and congrats to Kate's dad Steve for being recently named President to the PSC board! Go Steve!
If YOU have a worthy cause to nominate for our Foundry Giving Friday initiative, pop on over to our Nomination Page and drop us a line. We're all in this together.
