7/22/2022 Foundry Giving Friday: Cordale Q. Handy In Remembrance of Me Foundation

Every Friday The Foundry Home Goods contributes 5% of our total sales to a different community-nominated small-and-mighty cause. This Friday's Foundry Giving Friday recipient? Cordale Q. Handy In Remembrance of Me Foundation.

The Cordale Q. Handy In Remembrance of Me Foundation is a Minneapolis-based organization that provides physical and emotional support to families who have lost children to police and community violence. Founded by Kimberly Handy-Jones, whose son Cordale was killed by two St. Paul police officers in 2017, the Foundation's mission is to:

- provide headstones for families who have lost children to police and community violence

- love and support mothers and fathers whose children have died

- remember and speak the names of the children who died too soon

- fight for justice for the children and families affected by police violence

Following in the footsteps of our support of national and local groups working to end gun violence, groups working to address the causes and symptoms of police violence, and those building alternative networks of care in the face of systemic failures, this work is a reminder of the undue burden of healing and grieving, the impossible work that comes after.

If you don't need anything from us, please consider directly supporting the Cordale Q. Handy In Remembrance of Me Foundation directly here.

If you DO find yourself in need of anything from us, know that your purchase goes to support good change happening on the community level.

Thanks to Samantha for the nomination.

If YOU have a worthy cause to nominate for our Foundry Giving Friday initiative, pop on over to our Nomination Page and drop us a line. We're all in this together.
