6/10/2022 Foundry Giving Friday: Telling Queer History

Every Friday The Foundry Home Goods contributes 5% of our total sales to a different community-nominated small-and-mighty cause. In honor of Pride Month, all of our Foundry Giving Friday recipients for the month of June will be LGBTQIA+ organizations... next up:  Telling Queer History.

The stories we tell matter. Telling Queer History is a Minneapolis + Twin Cities based non-profit that facilitates a series of storytelling gatherings that connect LGBTQ+ people across generations and identities. Through the shared universality of oral tradition, interconnected histories and shared experiences emerge, and with them, a greater capacity for compassion, empathy, healing, and human belonging that is central to an intersectional LGBTQ+ community and an empowered movement in support of equality.

Telling Queer History is dedicated to authentic conversations that strengthen a sense of belonging, connection, agency, and hope, where all voices are heard, valued, and respected.

Want to see the magic in practice? After a few wild seasons of virtual-only events, the first in-person storytelling event since 2020 will take place on Sunday, June 12, exploring the intersection of food and justice through a queer lens (sign us up!). Easy, breezy and outside on the Feminist Book Club patio. Tickets are sliding scale/pay what you can.

If you don't need anything from us, please consider investing directly in Telling Queer History here. If you do find yourself in need of new garden shears or elevated dry goods storage to take your cake baking habit up a notch, know that your purchase goes to support good change happening on the community level.

Thanks to David for the nomination.

If YOU have a worthy cause to nominate for our Foundry Giving Friday initiative, pop on over to our Nomination Page and drop us a line. We're all in this together.
