Every Friday The Foundry Home Goods contributes 5% of our total sales to a different community-nominated small-and-mighty cause. This Friday's Foundry Giving Friday recipient? Everytown for Gun Safety.
It isn't necessarily that words fail us. It's almost like we have too many words to cram through the cotton-edged horror of our mouths and nothing comes out. It isn't necessarily that rage fails us, we certainly have enough of that, incandescent and flame thrown in spades like a dragon shadowboxing at nothing. And it isn't like we don't have sorrow or cynicism or fatalism or whatever you want to call the dangerous creeping absence of illusion...there is certainly that, dripping down the back of our throats like molten lead, gulped down in a boiling panic like a poison when our brains pivot to think about our own children. Our own families. ALL OF OUR PRECIOUS LIVES. No one wants this. NO ONE ACTUALLY WANTS THIS.
More smarter better people have written about all of this more and better and smarter, so we will stop going on and continue to do what we always do: nurture the tiny and tender flames of hope however we can and give what we can on the off chance that all of our tiny flames unite into some sort of bonfire of the campaign finance vanities that *might*actually*change* something.
