Every Friday The Foundry Home Goods contributes 5% of our total sales to a different community-nominated small-and-mighty cause. This Friday's Foundry Giving Friday recipient? Patrick Scully Productions.
Anna's vision for The Foundry has always been for it to feel—and act—like a neighborhood "general store". The kind where you know the people behind the counter, where you'd stop by as a part of your daily rhythm to get the candles for the night's dinner table or pick up the bread from the baker, a place to gather together to tell stories, share delights, and be in community with each other.
Whenever we dreamed about what the next chapters of The Foundry journey might look like, we always knew that in our *wildest dreams* we'd want the physical space of our shop to be able to support a whole community of happenings and inspiration, to nurture creativity and human connection. And, when we moved into our new shop-space last year, our wildest dreams came true.
We are thrilled to be hosting one of our first Foundry Presents community gatherings this weekend, 5/28: PATRICK'S CABARET- an old-fashioned interdisciplinary performance of music, song, poetry, drama, and movement featuring some dear ones (hi, G.E.! hi Barbara!) led by our dear friend (and Anna's island-neighbor) Patrick Scully. Get your tickets here, all proceeds support the artists.
It's just this kind of thing, full of creativity and harmony and the being-together-of-it-all that we are so thrilled to be able to be a part of and be in support of.
And this exact desire: the wanting to step up and be present to enhancing community connection is definitely one of the reasons why we started our Foundry Giving Fridays to begin with.
And, so, on this Giving Friday, our recipient will be Patrick Scully Productions, a tax deductible non-profit in partnership with historical Giving Friday recipient Springboard for The Arts, going further to support new works in production, putting more of Patrick's art—and the art of others—into the world. It's a beautiful thing.
If you don't need anything from us, please consider contributing directly to Patrick Scully Productions. If you do find yourself in need of anything from us know that your purchase goes to support good change happening on the community level.
If YOU have a worthy cause to nominate for our Foundry Giving Friday initiative, pop on over to our Nomination Page and drop us a line. We're all in this together.
