3/12/2021 Foundry Giving Friday: Black Table Arts

Every Friday The Foundry Home Goods donates 5% of our total sales to a different community-nominated small-and-mighty cause. This Friday's Foundry Giving Friday recipient? Black Table Arts!

Black Table Arts is a Minneapolis-based black artist's cooperative gathering and celebrating black communities through the arts. For the past six years, Black Table Arts has been proof positive of the transcendent power of art and creativity to connect, electrify, give voice, bring power, and reveal beauty. The Co-op has been a unifying and empowering force behind countless community-driven creative initiatives from writing workshops to artist studios to collective dance spaces to poetry readings and beyond.

A few weeks ago Black Table Arts launched its first-ever physical space. This physical location is the literal manifestation of safe space—bookstore, shared workspace, shopspace, performance venue—for nurturing the deep and fertile connection between community and creativity, art and activism, justice and beauty, safety and solace, respite and revolution.

THIS week, as the trial of George Floyd's murderers begins, Black Table Arts will begin to use their space to hold space with art and community— centering wellness, togetherness, and creative expression by black folks and for black folks. Learn more here @blacktablearts.

Every week after this—because of this moment, in spite of this moment—Black Table Arts hopes to increase its capacity for making magic and creating connectivity, celebrating beauty and igniting change. With blessings, may it be so.

If you don't need anything from us, consider joining if you are a black artist (or sponsoring a membership in solidarity if you are not). If you do happen to shop with us this Friday, know know that your purchase goes to support necessary change happening on the community level.

If YOU have a worthy cause to nominate for our Foundry Giving Friday initiative, pop on over to our Nomination Page and drop us a line. We're all in this together.
