2/18/2022 Foundry Giving Friday: North American Traditional Indigenous Food Systems

Every Friday The Foundry Home Goods contributes 5% of our total sales to a different community-nominated small-and-mighty cause. This Friday's Foundry Giving Friday recipient? North American Traditional Indigenous Food Systems!

Founded by James Beard award winners The Sioux Chef, North American Traditional Indigenous Food Systems (NāTIFS) is a MPLS-based non-profit dedicated to addressing the economic and health crises affecting Native communities by re-establishing Native foodways. NāTIFS imagines a new North American food system that generates wealth and improves health in Native communities through food-related enterprises. In their words:

Reclamation of ancestral education is a critical part of reversing the damage of colonialism and forced assimilation, and food is at the heart of this reclamation. NāTIFS will drive sustainable economic empowerment and prosperity into tribal areas through a reimagined North American food system that also addresses the health impacts of injustice.

If you don't need anything from us, please consider donating directly to NāTIFS. If you do find yourself in need of something to celebrate your own abundant meals OR fresh art supplies from our favorite indigenous-led paint company, know that your purchase goes to support good change happening on the community level.

Thanks to Lillian for the nomination.

If YOU have a worthy cause to nominate for our Foundry Giving Friday initiative, pop on over to our Nomination Page and drop us a line. We're all in this together.
