Every Friday The Foundry Home Goods contributes 5% of our total sales to a different community-nominated small-and-mighty cause. This Friday's Foundry Giving Friday recipient? Agate Housing and Services (Formerly St. Stephen's).
We've featured St. Stephen's before and while their work has always been crucial and heart-filling, year round, when the temps start to drop is when it really gets real. In the past year St. Stephen's has joined forces with House of Charity to form Agate Housing and Services, a when-our-forces-combine powerhouse built to more nimbly and effectively address homelessness and food insecurity, together.
Agate Housing and Services is working to end homelessness and food insecurity in Hennepin County. Our city is still experiencing a crisis within a crisis: driven by systemic issues like an affordable housing shortage, the wealth gap, stagnant wages, and legacies of racist policies and practices, there are far too many people who simply have nowhere to go and nothing to eat. From targeted, tailored early interventions for those at imminent risk of losing their housing to outreach, shelter, and support services for those already experiencing homelessness, Agate Housing and Services is working to close the gap, meeting people where they are, and working together toward self-sufficiency, housing stability, and full bellies. Also, a friendly reminder: it's about to get really cold here. Again. We can do better.
If you don't need anything from us, consider contributing directly to Agate Housing and Services here. If you DO find yourself in need of anything from us, know that your purchase goes to support good change happening on the community level.
Thanks to Lewis for the nomination!
