Every Friday The Foundry Home Goods donates 5% of our total sales to a different community-nominated small-and-mighty cause. This Friday's Foundry Giving Friday recipient? We the People Opportunity Farm!
We the People Opportunity Farm is a sustainable farm and growing collective providing opportunities and support to formerly incarcerated men and women AND working to create sustainable local food ecosystems of resilience, responsiveness, prosperity, and love. It's harvest time, baby!
People need to work, people need to eat, people need to be able to exist in safety, security, and righteous empowerment to live their lives freely. This is true always, but especially so for those returning from time spent in the Prison Industrial Complex. The mission of the We The People Opportunity Farm is: to break the cycle of incarceration in Washtenaw County by investing in the employment and development of formerly incarcerated men and women through farming and community engagement. With their stewardship-focused rolling paid farm internship program people can work, people people can eat, people can learn to grow life-sustaining food for their communities, sharing knowledge and building skillsets, distribute the food grown back to the community at little to no cost, which shares nourishment and builds foodways, enriches the fabric of their communities alongside the literal ground on which the communities stand, strengthening them from the inside out, in safety, security, and the righteous empowerment of doing the dang work. What's not to love!? See more at @w.t.p.o.f
