Every Friday The Foundry Home Goods donates 5% of our total sales to a different community-nominated small-and-mighty cause. This Friday's Foundry Giving Friday recipient? The Sheridan Story/Every Meal: Fighting Child Hunger!

Every Meal (formerly known as The Sheridan Story, more on the recent name change here!) is a Minnesota-based non-profit dedicated to ending child hunger, one meal at a time. More than 200,000 children in Minnesota suffer from food insecurity. Without reliable access to food—such as free and reduced meal programs at school—the risk of hunger is very real and very preventable.

Started in 2010, long before the current wild moment, when teachers at The Sheridan School noticed children hoarding food on Fridays to last them through the weekend, Every Meal works with community partnerships to fill the gaps to food access that children face during weekends, summers and extended breaks from school.

Now that we are well into the current wild moment and the certainty of nourishment available to hungry children via school lunches has evaporated at the same time as food insecurity has multiplied across vulnerable communities, Every Meal has pivoted their weekend food program to address those impacted the most.

As of March 13, instead of delivering food to 250 Minnesota schools for direct distribution into children’s backpacks, Every Meal worked together with 31 districts in Minnesota and western Wisconsin and other community partners to provide food for children and families. To meet the skyrocketing needs, they increased food output by 400% (!!), delivering 100,000 meals a week to over 37% of all K-12 children in Minnesota.

Thanks to the support of good persons such as yourselves, Every Meal has provided over 2,300,000 meals to local children and families. In this moment and in all moments, no child should go hungry. Period. See more @everymealorg.
