Every Friday The Foundry Home Goods contributes 5% of our total sales to a different community-nominated small-and-mighty cause. This Friday's Foundry Giving Friday recipient? The Good Acre.
The Good Acre is a Twin Cities-based non-profit that has been working since 2014 to develop multi-faceted initiatives to improve the local food system for diverse, independent farmers and to increase access to healthy produce for all consumers regardless of income. Food systems and drivers of food-related inequality are infinitely complex and require complex solutions—and a complex network of community support. It isn't as simple as "speak with your food dollars" or "support small farmers", it's about building interconnected, market-driven (as in "market economy" not as in "Sunday farmer's market"), multi-level systems that can nurture change from the ground up.
With vocational culinary training, grower support services, events, a farm share program, state-of-the-art facilities, commercial kitchen rental, warehousing, and the operation of a robust wholesale program, The Good Acre brings a world of services, support, and skills to farmers, food-makers, and eaters alike.
If you don't need anything from us, please consider directly supporting The Good Acre here.
If you DO find yourself in need of anything from us, know that your purchase goes to support good change happening on the community level.
Thanks to Nikki for the nomination!
