These glossy, glassy hyper-purifying charcoal sticks are 100% the most beautiful, natural, and perhaps magical way to clean and improve the taste and quality of your drinking water. Binchotan Charcoal is made exclusively from the branches of the Ubame Oak using the same ancient methods and kilns from when the process was first pioneered in Japan the early 1600's, and the porous, alkali crevices of each stick effortlessly attracts impurities and toxins latent in standard tap waters. One stick can purify for up to three months and, once it's reached the end of its life as a water cleanser, it breaks up and can enrich compost or simple garden soil.
To Use: Unwrap + rinse charcoal pieces thoroughly, making sure to brush off any excess ash. Fill a small pot with tap water and boil the charcoal pieces for 10 minutes to activate. Drain the pot and let the charcoal cool. Fill your desired vessel with water (we keep two half-gallon mason jars in the fridge at all times, but any pitcher will do), drop the charcoal in and after a few hours, the water will be purified. Feels like magic, tastes clean, clear and sweet. Re-boil periodically to release accumulated impurities and re-activate the charcoal.
Since these are made from tree branches, sizes and shapes may vary. One 1/4 pound bag contains 3-4 sticks of assorted diameters and lengths.
